Happy Monday Parents and Carers!

The past two weeks has been Christmas, Christmas, Christmas at Oakwood Academy, and we have continued the trend to begin our week.

Here is Evan starting his day off after assembly with his sensory diet.

Eric, meanwhile, enjoyed a fine motor/hands-eye math game with Mr. Jacob. Eric did a great job adding up the scores with minimal support!

We have also been focusing on time and time management in math. Here is Eric going over our daily timetable and showing us the proper times on a clock.

Evan was our teacher today and led us through our morning routines. Here he is going over our calendar, where we discussed past, present, and future time.

We then used colours to represent our feelings and use our oral communication skills and descriptive words to share emotions.
"Green means I am just right, and I am feeling great today because I think Avery will be back this week."
"Green means I am happy! It reminds me of Christmas trees!"

After a early snack and recess, the boys presented their two songs with accompanying dance moves to their peers. They did a great job and could be dancers for the Mickey Mouse Club!

After all of that hard work and waiting in rehearsal, the boys went over ornament decorating and Santa Math with their friends in Ms. Jessica and Ms. Andrea's classes.

Then, we all got the call for the Grand Finale!

Partner Play with our friends was a lot of fun! We worked on turn taking, being creative, two-way communication, engagement levels, and working with others.

Minute to Win It!

In social skills today we created our own Christmas stockings to decorate the stage for the concert. This activity used our fine motor skills, math-patterning and colours skills, concentration, and bilateral movements, as well as creative expression.

During our sensory gym session the boys continued to work on their motor planning skills, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, teamwork, sportsmanship, turn taking, addition and subtraction skills, and phonics and rhyming skills.

At the end of the day the boys had a fun music therapy session with Ms. Christina!

Have a restful evening and see you tomorrow!

Happy Friday Parents and Carers!

WOW! Only two more weeks of school left until the Christmas holidays. That realization summed up our day. Christmas, Christmas, Christmas!

Assembly today was very, very long, and entailed a special and moving presentation to help a young man in Kenya receive an education. To end assembly today, there were several house games that got everyone all fired up!

We started off our day by making Christmas decorations and ornaments for the Christmas Concert. Here is Evan and Eric making a giant Santa Claus, Frosty, and Rudolph, as well as painting Christmas tree ornaments.

Mr. Jacob, Ms. Jessica, and Ms. Andrea's classes all helped out to create these beautiful "textured" Christmas pieces. From left to right we have, Mr. Kris "Santa Claus" Kringle, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Snack and recess was early today as the entire school at Oakwood got together to practice our performances for the concert. Eric and Evan did a fantastic job singing and dancing on their own, as well as in large groups with their peers.

Here they are performing "Watch Me Santa/ Watch Me Sleigh, Sleigh", and " Jingle Bells".

We joined Ms. Jessica and Ms. Andrea's classes for our grand finale!

It was such a fun, fast Friday fill of Christmas cheer! Have a fun and safe weekend my friends, and hopefully I will see all three of you on Monday!

Good evening Parents and Carers!

Today was Mr. Eric Day! Unfortunately our two other friends were not at school, due to a family trip and an illness.

We started off the morning by playing a fun math and auditory processing game with our friend Mr. William in Ms. Andrea's class!
Here is Eric trying to remember the exact colours and shapes William instructed to put bean bags on.
William is waiting patiently to see if he got all of the bean bags in their correct locations.

After our game with William, Eric went over our calendar, weather, time, daily schedule, and feeling faces with Mr. Jared and I.

Feeling Faces

In art class today, Eric and Mr. Jared made Santa Claus hats for our Christmas concert. Eric displayed some impressive fine motor skills, concentration, bilateral movement, and creativity!

Here is Eric belting out "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" for our upcoming afternoon rehearsal.

Eric and Mr. Jared are recording the lyrics to our song that we made up, "Watch Me Santa/ Watch Me Sleigh, Sleigh"

Working on our dance moves for "Watch Me Santa/ Watch Me Sleigh, Sleigh. Eric demonstrated great gross motor skills, bilateral movements, proprioception skills, and concentration.

During gym class we made an obstacle course with our friends in Ms. Andrea's class. We worked on hockey and basketball skills, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, proprioception and vestibular movements, bilateral movements, and turn taking.

In MInute to Win It today Eric set two new records by completing "Play-Doh Find/ Threading", and "Christmas Tree Fine Motor Work" in under one minute each! He was so pumped and proud!

Eric was very creative with his motor planning during his sensory gym routine. He worked hard on all of his physical and sensory goals/skills, as well as addition and rhyming skills.

" Oh no, I'm stuck!

Here is Eric and his fellow peers from Oakwood practicing a song for the upcoming Christmas Concert! Eric had three performances and not only used his awesome dance moves, but sang beautifully in front of a large audience.

Have lovely evening and see you (ALL I hope) tomorrow!
