Happy Thursday Students, Parents, and Carers!

We began our day with sensory diets, ring toss, and morning circle. Sensory diets are so important for regulation, auditory processing skills, teamwork, social skills, sportsmanship, motor planning, body mapping, sequencing, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination. Play is great for creativity, language arts and complex communication skills, abstract thinking, problem solving skills,  inquiry and mathematics skills, role-play and drama, fine motor skills, teamwork, and social skills. Ring toss is a great tool to work on our fine and gross motor skills, visual spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, accuracy, turn taking, sportsmanship, and math skills.

Mr. Eric was our teacher today and went over months, weeks, dates, days, year, weather, time, and feelings.

After morning circle we needed a body break. Freeze Dance is great for auditory processing, body awareness, mapping, and control, gross motor skills, creativity, and fun!

Afterwards we continued our team building exercise where students had to build, measure, and work together in order to construct Portugal's Ponte Vasco da Gama bridge. Everyone used their math skills, language skills, fine motor skills, visual spatial skills, creativity, and social skills.

In gym class today we played Band Aid Tag, Dodgeball, and Shark Attack with the parachute. It was so much fun and everyone demonstrated teamwork, social skills, social problem solving skills, sportsmanship, motor planning, body mapping, sequencing, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.

In the afternoon we prepared and helped cook two different Portuguese dishes :

BACALHAU A BRAS and ARROZ DE PATO.

We worked on measurement, division, fractions, number sense and numeracy, fine motor skills, turn taking, life skills, health and safety, independent skills, social skills, and team work.

At the very end of the day we worked on our Portuguese flag and information board for tomorrow's International Day. Students used their fine motor skills, artistic creativity, spelling and grammar, phonics, math skills, social skills, geography skills, and teamwork.

Have a great evening!
