Happy Monday Students, Parents, and Carers!

We began our day by welcoming back Ms. B who came to volunteer for the day! We then began discussing our weekend events with one another, followed by our morning message. The boys used their reading skills, phonics and phonological awareness, segmenting and blending skills, grammar and spelling, printing and motor skills, two-way communication, sequencing, team work and logical thinking skills to correct Mr. Jacob's sentence. This activity opened up our discussion on safety rules for High Park.

At High Park the boys started off by learning about plants, discussing what plants need to grow and survive, and then we used some gardening tools to plant and water kale seeds. This was immediately followed by a fun baking activity where we used our auditory processing and comprehension skills, sequencing skills, fine motor skills, measurement skills, number sense and numeracy skills, oral communication skills, and turn taking skills to make Vegan Chocolate Kale brownies with the kale we picked form the garden. We even got to plant and take home green bean pots!

We then had a great adventure walking through the park, checking out the Zoo and learning about animals like Emus, Bison, Capybaras, Reindeer, Peacocks, West Highland Scottish Cattle, and so many more! Afterwards we had some time to play on the giant Castle Play Park. These activities were hands down the highlight of the trip!

After we got back to school and had our snack and short recess we practiced our Zootopia skit for Ms. B! The boys used their characters- Chief Bogo (Carter), Nick (Avery), Judy (Ojani), Flash (Sander), and Otterton (Eric)- to practice our story. They all used two-way communication skills, listening skills, auditory and language processing and comprehension skills, social skills, team work, abstract thinking, problem solving, turn taking, oral communication, and drama.

Lastly, we went over our Zones of Regulation and discussed how we were feeling today. We also got to share our own ideas and thoughts on how our day went, and took turns saying one nice thing about our friends from today's work. We continued our writing component for our reflection where students had to write down their top three activities from the day, and then label them as being 'green', 'yellow', 'blue', or 'red' from the Zones of Regulation.

Have a great evening and do not forget tomorrow is our third swimming session!

                                                                    Mr. Jacob : )

HOMEWORK: Tell your parents about the gardening activity and how to make brownies (ingredients), and explain High Park Zoo and describe your favourite animal.
