Happy first of December Parents and Carers!
I cannot believe that December is already upon us. Where has the time gone?
Despite the excitemnt due to the realization that Christmas is around the corner, the boys had a fantastic day.
The day began with only one friend in class today! Unfortunately, our newest class member who was suppose to visit today fell ill and could not come visit. Although Mr. Evan was by his lonesome, Mr. Jared and I made sure he was busy and working hard.
Here is Evan using his legs to propel himself across the gym.
"Hey, who's sensory circuit is this anyways!?" Mr. Evan got to sit back and relax while Mr. Jacob pulled him. But don't worry, I turned the tables on him shortly after! Haha
With Kobe Bryant retiring, Evan is in training for the NBA!
Evan creates his own obstacle course (with input from the OT, Mr. Jared and myself) to help him regulate and meet his sensory needs on a daily basis.

After the sensory circuit, Evan, Mr. Jared and I played a fun auditory processing/memory game using math shapes and colours. Our friend here got the best of Mr. Jared and won the match!

Evan and his friends have been going over the concept of time, telling time, and time management on a daily basis. Here is Evan showing us what time he got up at this morning: 6:59 a.m.
After we shared our wake up times (poor Mr. Jared gets up the earliest!), we went over different times throughout our daily schedule, and what they represent. For example, 2:15 p.m. represents afternoon snack and recess.
We then had to change our calendar as we noticed something was wrong. There is no 31st day of November. We are now in the month of December!
We also placed markers on important dates like when winter begins, Christmas holiday, Christmas Day, and News Years Day.
Engaging in Partner Play with our friends in Ms. Jessica and Ms. Andrea's classes. It is a great opportunity to learn turn taking, teamwork, sharing, proper social skills, and two-way conversation skills.
While Evan was busy with his SLP and OT activities, Eric and I practiced our spelling, blending, segmenting, fine motor skills, and phonics.

Playing a fun game in gym class called "Streets and Alleys", which was a fun tag and listening game.
Minute to Win It! The boys worked hard on their fine motor skills, bilateral movements, math skills, problem solving skills, time management skills, sportsmanship, and hand-eye coordination skills.
During our social skills session we practiced our Christmas songs with friends from Ms. Jessica and Ms. Andrea's classes.
In the sensory gym the boys worked on: math and rhyming skills, hand-eye coordination, vestibular and proprioception abilities/skills, bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, and sportsmanship.
Lastly, the boys had fun during two team building activities, Magic Squares and Land Mines. They worked brilliantly together using their words, problem solving skills, and directional and descriptive language to complete the tasks.
The boys were tied together at the legs in order to ensure that they engaged in two-way communication, used compromising skills, and problem solving strategies to crack the magic route!
Victory!!!
Here, one of the boys was blind folded while the other had to use directional and descriptive language in order to lead him though a "mine field" (obstacle course). Other than a few cheeky peeks, they did awesome using their directional and positional language skills, as well as auditory processing skills.
