We began our Tuesday with sensory diets, play and Blokus. This game is great for turn taking, abstract and creative thinking, complex communication, problem solving, math skills, fine motor skills, oral communication and sportsmanship. Sensory diets are so important for regulation, auditory processing skills, teamwork, social skills, sportsmanship, motor planning, body mapping, sequencing, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination. Play is so important for creativity, language arts and communication skills, mathematics skills, role-play and drama, fine motor skills, teamwork, and social skills.

Two of our brave pilots!
Our friends looked at, discussed, researched, and looked at the scientific method to come up with our own question(s) to test/investigate. We also went over what a hypothesis is, what materials we will need, how we can test our hypotheses, and ideas for design and development. I am very excited to see the end results! : )
In gym class today we played a couple warm up games and then Scooter Soccer. It was so much fun and everyone demonstrated great auditory processing skills, teamwork, social skills, social problem solving skills, sportsmanship, motor planning, body mapping, sequencing, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.
In Mindfulness today we went over two calming and deep breathing yoga videos. All of our friends were so attentive, focused, determined, and calm while working on their breathing, body awareness and body mapping and flexibility.
Working hard on our fine motor and letter formation skills.
In the afternoon we participated in a great team building activity called, Saving Sam. Here are two links describing the challenge: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Save-SAM-with-STEM-1851428, and http://all4theloveofteaching.blogspot.ca/2013/09/saving-sam-team-building-activity.html#.WCtk5aIrLFQ. We all used our social problem solving, problem solving, math skills, fine motor skills, bilateral movements, visual spatial skills, body planning, awareness, and mapping, hand-eye coordination, oral communication skills, and team work! It was very challenging but a lot of fun! : )
In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, phonics and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.

Hanging out!
For the remainder of the day we spent some time working on our science fair boards and projects!
HOMEWORK TIPS:
(1) Discuss, research, design, create, test, etc. things for your science experiment.
Carter- Electric Popsicle Plane (the school has popsicle sticks, materials for wheels, and cardboard BUT we do not have the items to make an electric motor. If Carter is able to bring in a small, cheap 'do it yourself' electric kit that would be great!)

Eric- Fossils (I could bring in coffee and grinds, but Eric will need to bring in the rest of the materials).

Ojani- Catapult (we have popsicle sticks and some cardboard, but a spoon, his ball of choice, and extra cardboard would be great to bring in).
Sander- Boats (we have all the materials except for a small, cheap 'do it yourself' battery operated motor).
Avery- we have most of his supplies for sound and music. If he wants to bring in a couple recyclable water bottles, and shoe boxes that would be great!
Zachary- has all of his materials.
Elizabeth- will join the SJA class for the science fair.
Mr. Jacob : )
