Happy (almost) Halloween Parents and Carers!
Our Halloween party was a great success and the boys had so much fun with their friends. We started the day off by making Ghost Poop with our friends. It was delicious! Haha We also got to go trick-or-treating and got so many yummy treats.
There were six different activities/rooms for our Halloween party. This is what we did:
1) Dracula's Dungeon- where the boys got to play with Halloween themed play-doh and interact socially with their friends.
2) Monster Masks/ Mummies- the boys got to use face/body paint to make monster faces, and then mummify their friends and teachers!
3) Haunted House- the Haunted House was very spooky but all the lights were on so no one got too scared. We had a list to find a clown face, a hand, two arms, a snake, and a rat! We were the only group to find all of the objects. Way to go!
4) Halloween Obstacle Course- in the gym the boys and their friends completed two different obstacle courses involving a snake pit, witches cauldron, giant pumpkins, flying ghosts, and more!
5) Witches Cauldron- the boys got to play with zombie brains, pumpkin goop, and make fun jelly pumpkins with googly eyes!
6) Tasty Treats- the last room we went to had lots of great goodies like cookies, cupcakes, worms in mud, chips, fruit, fruit snacks, juice, brownies, and candies.
What a fantastic day and it was so good to see some of you at the Halloween Fashion Show! Thank you so much for showing up and supporting our class. I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe Halloween.
See you Monday!

Good evening Parents and Carers!
It was yet another busy but productive day in Mr. Jacob' class! The focus today was "How is your engine running?" and "First place isn't everything". These two important topics were at the root of every lesson. The boys got their very own race car engines to illustrate how they are doing and feeling throughout the day.

After going over our feelings and how we are doing today, the boys got active with some numeracy dancing and jump spelling!
Next, we participated in rotating Halloween math centres along with Ms. Hope and Ms. Andrea's class. We measured Frankenstein, the Wicked Witch, and an eerie black cat. There was also Smarties addition, subtraction, and multiplication, as well as Pumpkin Popsicle sticks addition, subtraction, and multiplication. It was a lot of fun!
During Language Arts we went over spelling, grammar, and proper sentences while looking at different Halloween riddles that the boys had to figure out!
Gym class was a fun obstacle course with our friends in Ms. Jessica, Ms. Hope, and Ms. Andrea' class! We worked on gross motor skills, bilateral movement, proprioception, balance and coordination, and of course, sportsmanship and teamwork!
After lunch the boys completed two Minute to Win It challenges where they used their fine motor skills, sorting skills, and hand-eye coordination. It was a close finish and they all did very well.
During Social Skills the boys went over the steps and procedures on how to board a plane, fly a plane, land a plane, and travel on a plane. We then got to watch a Halloween puppet play put on by Ms. Ella's class.
The sensory gym was another exciting and necessary time involving teamwork, creativity, sequencing, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception, bilateral movement, balance and coordination, and endurance using the entire body. After a great discussion on "First place isn't everything", the boys ended the day with relaxing music while painting styrofoam pumpkins!
Do not forget your costumes tomorrow and have a great night!

Happy Rainy Wednesday Parents and Carers!
I hope everyone drove safe and sound to and from school today (or swam, or used a canoe haha).
For a rainy, gloomy day the boys were happy and very energetic. We had lots of sensory, regulation, and active breaks today as we all felt like caged animals due to the rain. Today, our friend Mr. Eric was the teacher during our morning routine. The boys also found a Halloween riddle in the classroom, which they not only deciphered but also fixed all of the spelling and grammar mistakes. Next, some active movement and regulation time was necessary to get out the wiggly, gigglies.

After a sensory break we completed some math, and then got right into finalizing our Jack-O-Lanters! The boys showed their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and focus while completing their designs.
During Language Arts we participated in a Barrier Activity involving our auditory processing skills, recall and retention, and oral communication skills. This is such a great and fun activity for the boys to use their auditory processing and recall skills. They all get to draw a detailed picture of their choice entailing their own creativity and adjectives.
