Today was my first full day in the class with Avery and Eric. Unfortunately we were missing Evan today and we all hope he will be back soon!
We started the day off going over the month, day of the week, date, and weather. Mr. Jacob forgets easily and needed the boys to help him out. We also went over how we were feeling today with our 'Feeling Faces'. Next, we found riddles hidden around the class and checked for grammar and spelling mistakes. The boys were too clever and properly wrote, "I ate too much turkey", as well as "The Blue Jays are going to win". Our morning circle then got everyone active going over a Cosmic Yoga video and learning new moves.
In math today we played three different games involving number sense and numeracy. It was active, fun, and the boys showed Mr. Jacob how well they can count by 2's, 3's, and 5's. Language was also fun as the boys made their own sentences and pictures in their journals. The morning was finished off with a fun P.E. game that involved our friends in Ms. Jessica's and Ms. Dakota's classes.
For social skills the boys worked brilliantly with their peers from the other two classes discussing, brainstorming, prepping, and cooking quesadillas. Yummm! This was followed by creating and completing their own obstacle courses in the Sensory Gym. Lastly, Avery and Eric learned about the terms "invisible" and "visible" by using a Venn Diagram and acting out examples.
It was a very busy day and the boys worked very well together. The last 15 minutes Avery and Eric had free time to colour and draw. What a busy day!
See you tomorrow : )
Mr. Jacob
