We only had two friends in class to start the day, but our third Musketeer arrived after an appointment for Language Arts and Physical Education. We began the day with one of the boys playing 'teacher' and getting us through our morning routine. This was immediately followed by finding a riddle in the classroom and working on our spelling, grammar, and phonological and phonetic awareness. The boys then decided on various activities to keep them moving, regulated, and calm. During Math, which followed regulation, we played 'bean bag toss' and made our own addition problems. It was then time for snack and recess, where we played various games of tag with our friends. After our bellies were full the boys learned more about Mr. Jacob, and then I learned more about them. We all made our own 'My Favourite Books' that entailed pictures, words, and sentences outlining things we enjoy. The morning finished with a sweat as the boys did loads of dancing with their friends in Ms. Jessica and Ms. Dakota's class.
The afternoon started with some friendly games of "Minute to Win It". This entails fine motor skills, math skills, problem solving skills, hand-eye coordination, focus and concentration. We had a blast and everyone was a winner! During social skills the boys discussed, acted out, depicted and wrote out things that 'bug' them, or make them angry and sad. It was a great session and lots of focus, group participation, and independent reflection was evident. The remainder of the day we created courses in the sensory gym and participated in Floortime Play!
Sleep well and see you tomorrow!!!
Mr. Jacob
