Welcome back to my first full week with the boys!
The four of us did not ease our way into the school week. The boys were full of energy and I was raring to go for my first full week of activities. The day began with morning assembly, 'playing teacher' and going over the month, day of the week, date, year, and weather. Every morning one of our friends gets to be the teacher and help us carry out morning circle. After this we went over our Feeling Faces and discussed how we feel today and why. This was followed by heavy lifting, wall squats and push ups, and some yoga and deep breathing to regulate our bodies. Next, the boys had to find a riddle hidden in the room and work together to fix the sentence with proper sequence, spelling, and grammar. Math was the next subject on the agenda and we played two games before sitting down for some seat work, where we worked on our numeracy and number sense as well as hundreds, tens, and ones.
During Language Arts we discussed proper questioning and wrote in our journals. It was then time to meet our friends in Ms. Jessica and Ms. Dakota's class for gym! We learned some basic skills and rules in soccer and got to play a friendly game. Finally it was time for lunch and recess.
After lunch the boys participated in a 'Minute to Win It' friendly fine motor skills and problem solving competition. We discussed sportsmanship, coming in first, second, and last, and that trying our best and having fun is the most important thing! There was a nice treat in social skills as we sequenced and followed the steps in order to make brownies. They were yummy and delicious : )
We ended the day in the sensory gym creating our own obstacle courses, and then calming down with a lovely music therapy session with Ms. Christina.
Have a great evening and see you tomorrow!
(I do apologize that the pictures have not been uploaded yet, I am experiencing technical difficulties.)
