I hope everyone enjoyed their long, long weekend and had a very happy Easter! I personally enjoyed seeing family and eating lots of yummy foods and treats. : )
Mr. Zachary was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, morning greetings, and what we did for our Easter break.
After our morning routine the boys wanted to begin the day with some active fun. No one wanted to do a sensory circuit or complete some Guided Dancing videos. So we decided to play some Scooter Ball Tag. We worked on our bilateral, vestibular, and proprioceptive movements, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, balance and coordination, hand-eye coordination, visual spatial skills, and math skills. It was so so much fun!
After our sensory workout we decided to get into partners and play together. Evan and Eric played Lego's together, while Avery and Zachary wanted to build structures out of different materials. They did very well engaging in two-way conversation, turn taking, and working on their play and social skills.
After snack and recess the boys put on racoon masks, dressed up, and got ready to read a new book called, "Secret Pizza Party". Everyone did very well using their reading skills, inferencing, predicting, and acting out scenes in the book.
In gym class today we played a new dodgeball game called, "Bench Ball". There were two teams and the objective was for every member of the team to be standing on their opponent's bench. In order to stand on the bench you had to throw to the "catcher" who was standing on the opponent's bench. After the catcher caught the ball, the player who threw it got to stand on the bench and be a catcher too! It was a lot of fun and everyone utilized their bilateral, vestibular, and proprioceptive movements, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, balance and coordination, hand-eye coordination, and visual spatial skills.
In social skills today we discussed and brainstormed different two- and three-dimensional shapes. Everyone came up with some very impressive shapes. Next, we got into pairs with our friends from Ms. Andrea's class. Each pair had to go outside and look for various shapes, and then record them and draw them on their clipboards. This was a great math and team building game that got everyone working together in pairs, and demonstrating great social skills, two-way communication skills, ad problem solving skills.
In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.
At the very end of the day the boys completed a team building activity with a partner. They had to build different structures by following various rules outlining what they could and could not build.
Have a great evening and see you all tomorrow!
Mr. Jacob
