Happy Friday Parents and Carers!

We did not have a blog yesterday as I was away sick. I am feeling much better but I am definitely not 100% yet!

The boys and I had a great Friday, but we missed our dear friend Avery.

Mr. Zachary was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, and morning greetings. We spent a long time going over how certain actions, words, and behaviours make us feel, why we feel that way, what we can do, and how other people may feel as well.

Here are the boys showing off some cool things during Show and Tell. One game we discovered on Eric's iPad was a pizza making app! Perfect for our pizza unit!

In the gym today we created different obstacle courses and worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.
Our friend Evan needed a sensory break at this time, so we decided to bust out some dance moves to videos on Go Noodle, i.e. robot dancing, Go Bananas Moose, and Pump that Bass! Great activity to help regulate and demonstrate great body and muscle awareness, proprioceptive and bilateral movements, gross motor skills, motor planning, and auditory processing.

In science today we learned how to make, measure, and divide up homemade Play-Doh! Our next step is to make a cool play-doh picture scene in an empty CD case.

Have a great weekend gentlemen!

Mr. Jacob :)

Happy Midweek Parents and Carers!

We had a great time today going over our emotions, feelings, problem solving skills, time and phonics!

The boys started off the day busting out their dance moves to their favourite videos on Go Noodle, i.e. robot dancing, Go Bananas Moose, and Pump that Bass! Great activity to help them regulate and demonstrate great body and muscle awareness, proprioceptive and bilateral movements, gross motor skills, motor planning, and auditory processing.

Mr. Evan was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, and morning greetings. We spent a long time going over how certain actions, words, and behaviours make us feel, why we feel that way, what we can do, and how other people may feel as well.

During language arts the boys had 1:1 sessions with Ms. Amber playing Race Car Phonics. The others stayed in the classroom and went over our pizza spelling words, pizza phonics, and went over the /ch/ and /ee/ sounds in our phonics books.

During Minute to Win It we worked on our concentration and focus, hand-eye coordination, proprioception skills, bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, math skills, time management, sportsmanship skills, and how to work through our emotions.

In social skills the boys discussed emotions, stress, anxiety, and anger with their peers in Ms. Andrea and Ms. Jessica's classes. We then made 'stomp mats' with a partner to take out our frustrations on something that cannot be hurt/ harmed, or hurt/harm another person.

In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.

At the end of the day during Train Your Brain the boys participated in a team building exercise. They had to build different structures at various heights in order to hold different objects that all varied in weight! Some great two way communication, problem solving, motor planning, strategizing, descriptive words, team work , and sportsmanship.

Have a great evening gentlemen and see you all tomorrow!

Happy Taco Tuesday!

The boys had such a fulfilling and fun filled day parents and carers! We went over some great social problem solving, math (time), auditory processing (pizza game), and had a blast at gymnastics.

The day began with some sensory fun and regulation time. Evan completed his sensory circuit, while Eric, Avery, and Zachary did bean bag crashes and some Lego play time.

Mr. Avery was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, and morning greetings.

In math today we were split up into two groups (which was a great social problem solving exercise in itself!), and then we had to make a clock using numbers 1-12, and then show the time written on the board with only our bodies. There was some great two way conversation, brainstorming, team work, and social problem solving.

In language arts we played a fun auditory processing pizza game! I read out several pizza orders from different customers, and our chefs had to remember the exact orders and recreate the pizzas using our pizza props. A great game for auditory processing, memory recall, following sequences, and word comprehension and application.

In gym today we continued played a fun new team game called "Egg Toss" (a play on Chuck the Chicken). But first, we had to play a little Dodge Ball from everyone's request! Haha
We had to separate our friends in two different groups. One team had to run around the 'chicken coop" while the other had to chase down the 'red egg' and play over-under. As the one team was playing over-under, the other team had to count how many times they got around the 'chicken coop' before they were down! It was a lot of fun and there were so many great acts of sportsmanship and team work!

Gymnastics was yet again a huge hit and success for everyone. The boys demonstrated excellent patience, listening skills, and movements in gymnastics today. We worked on our balance and coordination, proprioceptive, vestibular, and bilateral movements, sportsmanship, gross motor skills, and motor planning. We also got to spend some extra time on the slide, big trampoline, and foam pit!
