The boys, yet again, have me repeating their lingo. Haha
We began the day with a very fun and exciting assembly with St. Judes. After the national anthem Oakwood got the opportunity to participate in the house games. This week the activity was a scooter racing relay race. Mr. Evan and Mr. Zachary both volunteered and got chosen to represent their house for the game. They both did amazing despite over a hundred faces all looking at them and shouting in excitement.
After the assembly some of our friends who did not get a chance to participate wanted to try out scooter racing. So here we are having a fun sensory session with our class and Mr. Jordan.
In our Show and Tell session all four boys brought in a special toy. They had to name their toy, state what it is, why they like it, when they got it, and what it does.
During art class we had a cool lesson involving winter themes and snow. Everyone had to draw winter things on a coffee filter after discussing winter. Next, we went outside and put our coffee filters in the snow, and then gently brushed more snow on top using a paintbrush. Our coloured winter pictures and objects then leaked into the snow to make it colourful!
In science we looked at some activities from last week's sounds and vibrations session. Students then got into two groups and were given various recyclable materials, clothes pins, and elastic bands. Each group was told that they had to make an instrument that vibrated and made sound! There were some great ideas, for example, a guitar, drum, kazoo instrument, flute instrument, and rattle-kazoo instrument.
Looking at sounds and vibrations.
Creative problem solving process.
Have a great weekend gentlemen, parents, and carers!
Mr. Jacob : )
