We began our Thursday with our Show and Tell session as today is our last day of school before the long weekend! Everyone had to describe their object, share why they brought it in, where they got it from, how long they have had it, and why it is so special. We also used a Question Wheel to help work on our questioning and answering skills, using descriptive language, and working on inferencing and oral communication skills.
In St. Jude's gym class today we went outside and completed some track & field running circuits. The boys demonstrated great sportsmanship, motor planning, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.
In Math and Language Arts today, the boys had to yet again decipher a hidden message using various words and shapes. The boys had to first find hidden clues around the classroom to solve the secret message on the white board. Next, we finished our book and tried to help Matt and Bibi find their way out of the pyramid. They did so well using their oral and written language skills, spelling skills, and math skills.
After our first snack and recess the boys wanted to plan an "End of Year" party. We discussed when, where, who, how, food, transportation, invitations, etc. for this party. Hopefully this will be much easier and quicker to plan than the pizza party! Haha
In Gym today we continued to play Four Squares. This game is similar to dodgeball and everyone did very well. The boys demonstrated great auditory processing skills, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.
In Social Skills today we continued to work on our Peter Pan Play. The boys did very well practicing their roles and lines for our Peter Pan play! We had lots of fun with our friends and demonstrated great oral communication skills, team work, creativity, motor planning, body awareness, and body language.
At the end of the day we went over our Zones of Regulation and used different coloured blocks to symbolize how our day was, and how different times of the day went. We also got to share our own ideas and thoughts on how our day went, and took turns saying one nice thing about our friends from today's work. This was followed by some 3D math work where the boys went over sides, edges, and vertices. After our recap we made a 3D shape of our choice by using toothpicks and play-doh (e.g. a pyramid has 5 vertices and 8 edges, thus we needed 5 play-doh balls and 8 toothpicks to create our pyramid).
Have a great long weekend gentlemen! See you on Tuesday for our Home Depot Trip and Swimming!
Mr. Jacob : )
