Happy Tuesday Parents and Carers!

We began the day with only two friends in class. Collectively we decided to build a maze out of Lego's for a beginner activity  involving team work and social skills. Zachary and Evan worked very well together and had some great ideas how to make a challenging maze. During the building process we realized that we may not have enough Lego's. This led us to brainstorm ideas how we could get/ buy more Lego's, where the closest stores are located, how we could get there, and how much Lego's cost. There is still more work to be done, but the boys did excellent with their social skills, team building, turn taking, oral communication, money, number sense and numeracy, fractions, fine motor skills, and creativity.

After our activity we went outside to practice our long jump. Unfortunately, St. Jude's was busy with a spelling bee and could not participate in gym class with us. They demonstrated sportsmanship, motor planning, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.

Mr. Zachary was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, morning greetings, and rules for swimming.

After our morning circle routine the boys had to work together to edit Mr. Jacob's morning message. All three of them worked very well together to go over spelling, grammar, and phonemic and phonological awareness.

In Language Arts today we went over some of our spelling words by completing some fun games. The boys had to find the correct word on the whiteboard amongst various other words by using their "light sabers". Afterwards, they had to write down our new words and then complete a work sheet that requires them to write the word, find the word, trace the word, build the word, and use it in a sentence.

In Gym class today we played a new game with our friends from Ms. Andrea's and Ms. Jessica's class called "Four Corners". It was similar to dodgeball and everyone did very well. The boys demonstrated great auditory processing skills, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.

This afternoon was our third swimming session! The boys and I were very excited and the boys did so well in the pool. Everyone followed our rules, worked well with the pool staff, and remained regulated for the entire duration. We demonstrated teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, coordination, auditory processing skills, body and safety awareness.

Have a restful evening gentlemen!

Mr. Jacob : )
