Happy Monday Parents and Carers!

Unfortunately our dear friend Zachary was not at school today. We hope that he is feeling better and will be at school tomorrow for gymnastics!

We started off the week with some high energy activities- a sensory circuit obstacle course, and Go Noodle guided dancing.  Guided dancing and a sensory circuit are both great activities to help regulate and demonstrate great body and muscle awareness, proprioceptive, vestibular and bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, and auditory processing.

Mr. Eric was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, and morning greetings.

In math today we looked a fractions using pizza! The boys had to build pizzas using different sized slices (i.e. fractions), as well as complete a fun fraction game using life like pizza slices with fractions written on them. It was a lot of fun and made us all hungry! Haha

In gym this week we will be looking at soccer, and learn how to dribble, pass, shoot, and play with teammates! Today we went over dribbling and shooting with our friends from Ms. Andrea and Ms. Jessica's classes.

We had another new activity in Minute to Win It today. The boys had to use a straw, without using their hands, to pick up and put penne noodles in a cup. We worked on our concentration and focus, hand-eye coordination, proprioception skills, bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, math skills, time management, sportsmanship skills, and how to work through our emotions. It was a pretty tricky activity, but everyone stuck with it and did not give up! Great work gentlemen!

In social skills today we participated in a Team Building activity. The boys had to use giant floor mats and build a structure in 15 minutes or less! Next, we went to our friends' classes to see what they built, and how they compared and/or differed from our structure.

In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.

Lastly, the boys wanted to play an old favourite, Bingo Bots! It is a great game that utilizes fine motor skills, turn taking, math skills, letter recognition, sportsmanship, and creativity.

Have a great evening and see you tomorrow!

Mr. Jacob : )
