Happy Thursday Parents and Carers!

I cannot believe that it is already Thursday! Where has the week gone?

We were still missing our dear friend Zachary today, and we all hope that he is feeling much better.

Before heading to the Play Centre all of our friends unanimously voted for some dancing! We began with some new and old dance routines from Go Noodle. Guided dancing and sensory circuits are both great activities to help regulate and demonstrate great body and muscle awareness, proprioceptive, vestibular and bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, and auditory processing.

The Play Centre was such a great opportunity for everyone because as research states, "play based learning leads to greater social, emotional, and academic success", and results in students becoming active participants in their own learning process. Everyone utilized their language and oral communication skills, problem solving and reasoning skills, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, mathematic skills, and social and emotional skills. And the best part was, we had fun doing it! : )

Our first stop was the Construction Site

Next, we played in the Supermarket and used the very realistic cash register, scanner, and food items.

The Veterinarian Clinic was a huge success as we helped rescue so many animals, such as snakes, dogs, cats, bears, rabbits, birds, and even a shark and dinosaur!

Our big strong guys put on some firemen outfits and pretended to put out fires and rescue people in need.

Putting out the fire and rescuing a family

Haha! Apparently Eric is a crazy driver!

The Race Track was also a huge success (especially for Mr. Jacob haha). The cars were so cool as we had to operate them using our hands instead of our feet!

Next we went into the perfect setting for our pizza unit, a restaurant! We played chef, server, and customer as there were menus, chef aprons, and sooo much food to choose from.
Lastly, our friends went into the Theatre and performed a medieval times play with a real life dragon!

In social skills today we engaged in some Partner Play with our friends from Ms. Jessica and Ms. Andrea's class. Some of the activities included Lego's, cashier, tools and building, dinosaurs, and pizza fractions!

In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.

Lastly, Ms. Amber led the boys in a fun art/sensory session where they made stress balls. It was a lot of fun and I am sure our stress balls will come in handy.

Have a great evening gentlemen and see you all tomorrow!

Mr. Jacob : )
