We all had such a fun and busy day today. Not to sound like a broken record, but, we started the day off with our sensory dancing! The boys are getting very good at some of the dances and it is impressive to watch and participate.
Before morning circle today, we joined St. Judes' Grade 1 & 2 classes for some fun during gym. We ran some laps and went through some stretches to begin. Our friend Zachary was chosen to lead one of the stretches in front of everyone! Next, we played a fun game called "Whistle Whistle" (or something along those lines haha). It was great for auditory processing, counting, shapes, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.
Mr. Evan was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, and morning greetings.
After recess we had a blast reading and participating in our sensory story, "Pete's A Pizza". Mr. Jacob turned everyone into "pizza" and we had so much fun following along with all of the actions.
"Rrrrrrrolling the dough!"
"Kneading the dough!"
We had another new activity in Minute to Win It today. The boys had to use a straw, without using their hands, to pick up and put penne noodles in a cup. They also had to complete the activity by screwing in plastic nuts and bolts into their proper shape. We worked on our concentration and focus, hand-eye coordination, proprioception skills, bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, math skills, time management, sportsmanship skills, and how to work through our emotions. It was a pretty tricky activity, but everyone stuck with it and did not give up! Great work gentlemen!
In social skills we joined our friends in Ms. Andrea's class for some Partner Play. We began the session by everyone coming up with a game and taking a vote. In the end everyone decided that we could have three different play sessions in one! There was a team building activity, Lego store, and pizza fractions.
In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.
At the end of the day everyone wanted to play Pizza Fractions. The boys had to build pizzas using different sized slices (i.e. fractions), as well as complete a fun fraction game using life like pizza slices with fractions written on them. As usual, it was a lot of fun and made us all hungry!
Have a great evening and see you tomorrow!
Mr. Jacob : )
