The day began like most days, Evan went off to his sensory circuit while the other three did some dancing! Guided dancing and a sensory circuit are both great activities to help regulate and demonstrate great body and muscle awareness, proprioceptive, vestibular and bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, and auditory processing. We sure are becoming impressive dancers!
Mr. Avery was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, and morning greetings.
In language arts today we looked at and discussed what we would need, and need to do, in order to plan a pizza party. We discussed what is entails to order a pizza, cook a pizza, deliver a pizza, and prepare a pizza party. There was lots of great ideas, brainstorming, collaboration, social problem solving, and creativity throughout the session!
In math we continued to look at fractions using a fun pizza game! The boys had to build pizzas using different sized slices (i.e. fractions), as well as complete a fun fraction game using life like pizza slices with fractions written on them.
In gym today we again looked at soccer skills. The session began with a friendly competition between two teams. Each team had to search for and gather certain coloured pylons, i.e. green-yellow, and orange-red, as quick as possible. We then participated in a fun obstacle course where we utilized and practiced our passing skills, ball control, accuracy, speed, and shooting.
During Minute to Win It the boys wanted to complete a Team Building activity from last week! Our friend Zachary was participating in a 1:1 session with Ms. Hope as the other three worked together to transport a ball without using touching it!
In social skills we discussed healthy snacks and foods. We then got to create some cool 3-D "pictures'" and objects using our healthy foods to be creative and have some fun. A great way to learn about healthy snacks, and utilize our creativity and fine motor skills.
In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.
Have a great evening gentlemen and see you tomorrow!
Mr. Jacob : )
