Happy Thursday Parents and Carers!
We began the day by playing musical chairs with our friends from Ms. Andrea's class. Everyone played so well and demonstrated great sportsmanship the entire session!
We made a bit of the mess with our class "bucket" and had to vacuum up some rice. It was an extremely heavy and old vacuum cleaner!
Here are the boys listening attentively to Mr. Slyck's instructions before we head outside for Track & Field.
The boys were speedy quick and had a lot of fun!
Afterwards we worked on our pizza party planning and completed some tricky multiplication, addition, subtraction, and fractions work to finalize our costs and pizza orders. The boys worked very well together to establish what we need to get done everyday until our party!
Avery had his 1:1 Reading/ Phonics session with Mr. Jeremy and Eric was with St. Jude's today, so Evan and Zachary wanted to use some building materials to construct a tower together. They did so well working together, using communication skills, teamwork, turn taking, and finishing the task at hand! Their tower stood a whopping 40 cm at the end of the session. Great work gentlemen : )
In gym class today we played several fun games using our school parachute. The boys demonstrated great auditory processing skills, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, and balance and coordination.
After lunch we worked on our fine motor skills by practicing how to tie up our laces using homemade shoes. This was very difficult but everyone tried their very best! During Minute to Win It we worked on our concentration and focus, hand-eye coordination, proprioception skills, bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, math skills, time management, sportsmanship skills, and how to work through our emotions.
For social skills today we joined Ms. Andrea's class to talk about the Zones of Regulation, and how to play with our friends. The boys then participated in a "Play Master" session where one friend gets five minutes to dictate and run a game with their own rules. After five minutes is up the next friend gets to be the 'play master', and so on. This is a great game for social skills, communication, turn taking, creativity, fine motor skills, and emotions.
In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, phonics and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.
At the end of the day the boys read Harrold's Newspaper that he created in Ms. Ella's class. They really enjoyed the comic series and deciphering a secret code using symbols and letters!
Eric joined us at the end of the day and told us all about his exciting day! Great job Eric!
Have a lovely rainy evening and see you all tomorrow for Earth Day! Do not forget to wear your blues and greens tomorrow!
Mr. Jacob : )
