Today was the big day....No Frills Day!!! Everyone remembered to bring in their signed consent forms and was super excited for our trip. Here we are presenting our consent forms to Mr. Nahi and asking him when he is available to take us. He inspected our forms very thoroughly and unfortunately for me, my mother is in Windsor, and Mr. Nahi almost didn't let me go without her permission! Haha
For the second day in a row the boys actually wanted to begin the morning with some sensory dancing. Guided dancing and sensory circuits are both great activities to help regulate and demonstrate great body and muscle awareness, proprioceptive, vestibular and bilateral movements, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, and auditory processing.
The boys got into partners, discussed rules for our trip, listed some items that we needed to research, and got ready for the journey. The boys used great math skills (numeracy and number sense, money, measurement, and similar & different), social skills, life skills, oral communication skills, writing skills, and teamwork!
We had some difficulties with the delicious looking "pizza sauce" called Ragu.
Looking for pepperoni and other meats.
Thin Pizza crust
Evan finalizing his list.
Hmmm...what do we have here?
There is so many to choose from!
Price check
After our trip the boys had their snack and did very well during some much needed partner play and relaxation time.
In gym class today we continued to play "Wall Ball", but instead of a wall we used mats to make our accuracy more precise, and the game more challenging and exciting. The boys got to work on their hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, and balance and coordination.
In social skills today the boys joined Ms. Andrea's class to discuss the difference and similarities between 2D and 3D shapes. We read a really fun book called, Captain Invincible and the Space Shapes where we got to decipher clues and use different shapes to save the captain and his space dog Comet. Afterwards we got into our pairs from yesterday and made our very own space ships using different shapes.
In the sensory gym we worked on our hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, time, phonics and rhyming skills, and balance and coordination.
At the very end of the day the boys got into teams and played some Charades. We discussed how to play the game and what the rules were. Some of the things we had to act out was a lion, fisherman, and dragon. This was a fun team building game that utilized non-verbal communication skills and role play.
Have a lovely evening and see you all tomorrow.
Mr. Jacob : )
