Today was an exciting and busy day with our playground being built, pancake breakfast, and we had a new friend join us in the afternoon for a trial day!
The day began on a delicious note when we joined some of friends for a yummy pancake breakfast! Everyone was so excited and full of energy after our meal.
We burned off our pancakes by playing some Scooter Ball Tag, but with some new activities. The boys also completed some relay races and a rope pulling activity. We worked on our bilateral, vestibular, and proprioceptive movements, fine and gross motor skills, motor planning, balance and coordination, hand-eye coordination, visual spatial skills, and math skills. It was so so much fun!
Mr. Zachary was our teacher today and led the class through time (past, present, and future), calendar work (years, months, days, and weeks), emotions and feelings, and morning greetings.
During language arts we went over nouns, adjectives, descriptive language, and questioning techniques. The boys did very well using all of the above to try and guess what objects Mr. Jacob had hidden in brown paper bags. This activity also utilized their team work, sportsmanship, oral communication and application skills. They ended up solving all three objects: a golf tee, a mini basketball, and our classroom vibrating speaker.
In gym class today we played several fun games using our school parachute. The boys demonstrated great auditory processing skills, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, motor planning, fine and gross motor skills, proprioception skills, vestibular and bilateral movements, math, and balance and coordination.
In social skills today we had our new friend Christian, as well as Ojani and Elizabeth join us for our team building session on pyramids. We had to get into groups an use our multiplication skills to make enough groups for our 11 friends. Next, the four teams had to work together to build a pyramid, or shape of their choice. We saw some great oral communication skills, team work, sportsmanship, fine motor skills, math skills, and social problem solving.
At the very end of the day we went over some of our final discussions and to-do list for our pizza party. They all shook hands on it, and signed their names to agree and give consent to finish the party planning by tomorrow! : )
Have a great evening gentlemen and see you all tomorrow!
Mr. Jacob : )
