Today was an extremely fun, hands on day with our friends in Ms. Jessica, Ms. Hope, and Ms. Andrea's classes.
The day began with morning assembly, morning circle, and morning routines. While waiting for one of our friends to finish his sensory diet, Eric worked on his Phonics book. He had to use digraphs and blends in order to make words, and then find objects in magazines that contained the digraphs.
Eric also went over the prepositions of locations, such as on top, below, inside, to the side, next to, behind, beneath or underneath, and left and right. This is a great exercise to practice prepositions and auditory processing skills.
The boys then worked on their Christmas dance moves for our performance! We didn't want to give away too much! Haha
The boys also had a great time participating in Share and Tell time. The brought in one of their favourite things they own- a stuffed bunny, and an iPod.
We then had a great Art lesson using different materials and textures to make a cool art piece! Our friends had to make a picture using only string, sand paper, and paint. For paintbrushes, they could only use clothespins. The catch was, however, the clothespins could not actually touch the paint! There was lots of great discussion and brainstorming, and our friends had a blast making really cool abstract art using pine cones, sponges, foam, leaves, pom pom balls, and wool.
In Science today, we explored different materials and textures using our sense of touch. Our friends then had to figure out what they felt like, and put them in a chart.
Our friends then used these different textures and surfaces to test out our race cars. We needed to figure out what the best possible surface would be for our cars to go the fastest and farthest!
We discovered that a hard, smooth (or flat) surface was the best road for our race cars!
What a great day having fun with our friends, working together, and using our thinking caps to solve problems involving Science and textures!
Have a great weekend and see you all Monday!
Mr. Jacob : )
