What another beautiful sunny day we had today! Everyone was in good spirits and we definitely utilized the nice weather for an outdoor gym session.
The day began with a great morning circle, lots of discussion, and sharing our feelings. The boys worked on their listening skills, writing skills, two way conversation, oral communication, and and social-emotional skills.
We then played a great game of Race Car Phonics where the boys had to take turns, discuss sportsmanship and winning, create words and make sentences, and practice blending and reading skills, as well as phonemic and phonological awareness skills.
During math we continued working on measurement in our JUMP Math workbooks. The boys are doing very well and are using units of measurement more and more independently.
After snack and recess we needed some relaxing regulation time. Here are the boys using calming voices, deep breathing, sensory squishes, deep pressure, and listening to soothing music.
For gym we all went outside with our friends in Ms. Jessica, Ms. Hope, and Ms. Andrea's classes. We enjoyed the nice weather and played a fun game of Pac Man Tag! It was then time for lunch and recess.
After lunch the boys worked on their math skills, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and sportsmanship skills during Minute to Win It.
Next in our schedule was social skills with our friends in Ms. Jessica, Ms. Hope, and Ms. Andrea's classes. We read a story about sportsmanship, being a good winner and loser, and supporting our friends even if they are not doing well.
After all of the hard work today the boys were excited (as always) to create obstacle courses in the sensory gym! There is always lots of energy and new creative ideas to work on math, sequencing, gross and fine motor skills, bilateral movement, balance and coordination, and proprioception skills.
The last thing we did today was finish our "When We're Upset" visual books. These are going to be used in class whenever someone feels upset, sad, angry, etc. They can open up their books and choose something they want to do that will help them manage their emotions.
Enjoy the beautiful evening and see you tomorrow!
Mr. Jacob
