Another beautiful sunny day, both outside as well as inside of Oakwood Academy! The boys were busy working on the theme of "Teamwork" today.
We started the day, like every morning, chatting about our evenings, what we had for breakfast, the weather, and looking at our calendar.
We then got right into a team building activity called Magic Squares. Mr. Jacob created a path, or route, through a magic squares board on the carpet. The boys had to work together and try and figure out the proper path to the finish line. This was very fun and the boys worked together in unison to find the right route. It entailed two-way conversation, oral communication, auditory processing, body movement, sportsmanship, problem solving, and team building skills.
After cracking Mr. Jacob's paths, the boys got to work with their measurement activities. They all worked very hard and learned new material relating to measurement and fractions.
Before recess, Evan presented his puppet show to his friends. It was very entertaining and everyone enjoyed the show! Thanks Evan!
In Language Arts, the boys used their imagination, creativity, descriptive writing, adjectives, oral communication, and auditory processing skills (such as recall and retention) during Descriptive Drawing. We have done this before but the boys enjoy it, and perfect practice makes perfect!
It was such a sunny day we went outside for some Pac Man Tag with our friends in Ms. Jessica, Ms. Hope, and Ms. Andrea's classes.
Immediately after lunch we tried a new/old Minute to Win It activity that promotes fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and math skills.
Social Skills was extremely fun as the boys worked together in the gym with their peers on team building skills.
Next, we utilized our gross motor skills, sequencing, problem solving, creativity, balance and coordination, and bilateral movement skills in the Sensory Gym.
Wheeeeew! I am exhausted just writing about the day we had! The remainder of the day was left for some Choice Based Play where the boys worked together and played together with Mr. Jarrod following their lead.
Enjoy the sun, sleep well, and see you tomorrow gentlemen!
Mr. Jacob
