Good evening Parents and Carers!

The boys and I had a great day, except for the fact that I  kept thinking today was Monday after our day off! Haha

The boys got straight to it, working together to fix our calendar, complete the weather, discuss time and our daily schedule, and talk about how we are all doing with our engines, and how we are all feeling today.

During Feeling Faces we started incorporating colours and symbolism to help us think about and look at different emotions. All of the boys think yellow means 'happy' or 'little tired', green means 'happy' or 'just right', blue means 'sleepy' or 'sad', and red means 'angry/upset' or 'too fast'. They have been doing great expanding their minds and putting their brains together. We went to the next level with physical objects around the classroom. The other day I showed them a toy puppy, and almost everyone guessed that I was happy! I told them I was indeed happy, and why puppies make me happy- cute, cuddly, soft, etc. Today, the boys had to find their own objects and we had to guess how they were feeling.
Avery felt happy, and showed us a toy turtle. He chose a turtle because he saw one not too long ago for the first time, and he thought they were cool!

Eric also felt happy, and showed us an elephant. He informed us that he saw elephants at a Zoo once and they made him happy.
Our friend Evan said that he was glad today. He found our squishy ball with the smiley face, and said that he looks today!

After Feeling Faces, we looked at time management by using a time line. We all had an activity to choose, and we then needed a way to fit in everyone's choice in a 35 minute time slot. It took us a little bit, but there was great problem solving, two way conversation, compromising, team work, and logical and moral reasoning.

Mr. Jacob chose math. What a meany! Haha Here are the boys completing measurement work in their JUMP Math program.

Evan chose Magic Squares. He even made his very own magical path through the squares!

Avery chose musical chairs. They had lots of fun getting active to some of their favourite music.

Unfortunately, we didn't have time to do Eric's choice of Lego's. This was a great time management lesson as we all agreed that everyone needed more time to complete their activities. The boys figured out a better mathematical approach, and acknowledged that we spent too much time debating on time and who goes first!

Next, we got to join Mrs. Kerr's Grade 2 Art class in St. Judes. The boys made new friends and had a blast helping St. Judes' students get ready for their Christmas Play.

After art, the boys had a great Language session practicing their descriptive words (adjectives), two way conversation, auditory processing, and retention and recall.

In the afternoon the boys were planning on joining St. Judes Grade 1 & 2 students for gym. Unfortunately for us they were at the hockey rink skating! So we deciding to have some fun competing in friendly scooter racing.

During Social Skills, the boys went over Volcano Mouth and Rock Brain with their friends in Ms. Jessica, Ms. Hope, and Ms. Andrea's classes.

At last, we had Sensory Gym time! The boys did very well toning their gross and fine motor skills, proprioception skills, bilateral movement, balance and coordination, regulation and sportsmanship.

At the very end of the day we completed four Minute to Win It activities involving bilateral movement skills, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, sportsmanship, and math. We finished the day off with some spelling and writing activities relating to our weekly spelling words.

Wow what a busy day back! I hope everyone has a lovely evening and I will see you tomorrow!

Mr. Jacob
