Due to a Florida family trip and the American Thanksgiving, we had one lone friend in class today! Eric did have lots of fun in Art and Science with his friends in Ms. Jessica and Ms. Andrea's classes.
Here's Eric starting the day off with a game called Math Balls. Eric uses his number sense & numeracy skills, hand-eye coordination, fine motor motor skills, and sportsmanship. He did an amazing job keeping track of the scores and adding the scores all on his own.
In Art today, our friends had to choose a Christmas picture that they wanted to "colour". I provided them with only a glue stick and said, "Start colouring your picture!" There were exchanged looks of confusion, dead air, and then subtle uncomfortable shuffles amongst our friends. We finally noticed three large piles of different materials in different colours. Eric and his peers had to choose various textures and colours to paste onto their pictures. It was a lot of fun and such a cool exploratory problem-solving art lesson.
Here is Eric, William, and Mr. Jared sticking on grains, felt, sponges, cotton, and chocolate chips to colour in their snow man!
After lots of great work, creativity, fine motor skills, and teamwork, we had to work together and clean up our mess.
In Science today we continued looking at our different senses. The past couple weeks, as well as art today, we have been using our sense of touch in Science and Art. Today, we played a new Simon Says game and a Sounds Bingo game to explore our sense of hearing. Everyone did very well concentrating on various sounds, for example pop corn popping, a train moving on tracks, car wheels screeching, a meowing cat, a dinosaur roaring, and Pac Man! It was a lot of fun, and everyone worked well together in a social skills/ science lesson on sounds.
What a great way to end another successful and busy week! Have a fun and restful weekend, and we shall see all three of our friends on Monday!
Mr. Jacob : )
